Breakfast – Pacific Beach Chiropractic Center

Did you know that people who eat breakfast are generally leaner, more energized and all around healthier? Perhaps you weren’t aware that people who eat breakfast also tend to have healthier cholesterol levels and even better concentration and memory? Eating breakfast has also been known to lower the risk of diabetes and heart disease. 

As you may have noticed, having breakfast every morning is very important. Having it within 2 hours of waking is even more ideal. Some may also refer to it as the ‘most important’ meal of the day. Without it, our bodies are basically running on empty. First thing in the morning, breakfast helps restore glucose levels and provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast. Research has shown that those who eat breakfast are less likely to become overweight. It has also been known to improve mood and lower stress levels. 

For children, eating breakfast is even more crucial. It can improve their behavior and has even been linked to good grades in some cases. Like any other organ, the brain needs energy to work at its best. Not only does it have long-term effects such as reducing obesity, regulating blood pressure, and lowering chances of developing heart disease and diabetes, but it is also a good excuse for people to get together. In children especially, it establishes good habits that they will hopefully carry with them through adulthood. They are less likely to skip meals as adults and it also helps to develop good eating habits. Not sure what to eat for breakfast? Try eating whole foods vs. processed foods. A combination of protein and fruits and veggies is a good start. Here are some options: 

  • Eggs

  • Oatmeal

  • Greek yogurt

  • Flaxseed

  • Almond Butter

  • Fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas & grapefruit

  • Coffee & tea

  • Juices such as orange & cranberry
