Everybody does it, like the potty training book says, but how often do you consider whether you're good at it or not? Digestive health can be achieved through many different changes to your diet. But the overwhelming consensus is that you need to decrease inflammatory foods and increase your bulk fiber content. Reducing your intake of processed foods, grains, and dairy are all going to greatly benefit the health of your digestive tact. But an easy way to increase your fiber content is to supplement your day with Psyllium Husk (pronounced sill-e-um) once or twice a day. The husk from Psyllium seeds are used as a bulk laxative. The husk works by swelling many times its normal size in water and acts as a brush for your intestines. Think of it as a toothbrush for your gut.
Psyllium can be used to help treat diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation naturally. Recent studies have shown that Psyllium husk may be effective in lowering cholesterol and controlling certain types of diabetes. Psyllium can be taken mixed in water or in capsule form. Drinking plenty of water when taking Psyllium will help its effectiveness. Any supplementation should be viewed in respect to the whole diet a person is consuming and factored accordingly. It is important to consult a qualified professional before making significant changes to your diet.
Keeping your digestive tract healthy is extremely important for overall health and well being.
